Have Wander, Will Travel - NYC Edition August 19, 2015 09:44

On Monday, I packed my bags and headed to NYC for a 24-ish hour mini trip.

The purpose of this trip was to attend NYNOW, a gift show held twice per year, where store owners can scope out upcoming trends and place orders with vendors.

(Excuse the selfie, I'm terrible at taking them. My face always looks lopsided.)

This show was the Fall/Holiday show and amid lots and lots of vendors, I found a few great, American made, lines to add to Wander. Shout out to Amano Studio, Utility Canvas and Redcruiser.

Plus many others that I'm still considering. I'm sporting a seriously sore shoulder today, after toting around my bag filled with so many vendor catalogs!

I was also thrilled to meet some great ladies in-person, that so far I've only worked with over the interwebs. Thanks to Lizzie of Little Minnow, Alaina of Cold Gold, and Kathryn of Rangemark for showing me some sweet, new styles, including head scarves, pillows, jewelry, infinity scarves, aprons, potholders and more.

In between all that shopping, I also managed to squeeze in a little Brooklyn exploring, which I've always wanted to do. Some highlights include the view from the East River Ferry (ahhhmazing!):

The cold brew at Grady's Coffee Cart. I am officially obsessed.

Shopping in Williamsburg. Check out these cookie cutters from Whisk!

And the street art (aka graffiti) all over Brooklyn. These guys are taking it up about ten notches from any graffiti I've seen before.

...now back to work!

July: In Pictures August 06, 2015 11:53

It's been awhile since I last posted...which is the first line of every blog post I've ever read, on a lackluster blog that doesn't regularly get updated. So while it's true, for that I apologize.

Instead of listing all the reasons why I didn't get around to sitting in front of my computer and typing, I thought it might be more fun to share July: In Pictures (see below). And then from now on, I'll be better about updating this blog with great maker stories, truck updates and inspiration.

4th of July Getaway July 02, 2015 08:00

It's been full steam ahead at Wander for the last two months. I've been busier than ever, doing work that makes me happier than ever. But now it's time to relax.

I'm headed to my all time favorite place, Peaks Island, Maine, for a 4th of July getaway. And I couldn't leave home without my Hayden Reis Sailcloth Tote, chock full of island essentials. Seen above, from left to right:

  1. Goldfish Kiss Ombre Stripe Sailcloth Tote Bag
  2. Northshore Magazine - July feature mouthwatering burgers. Perfect for the 4th!
  3. Anchor Sailcloth Wristlet packed with Sun Bum Original Sunscreen & Cool Down
  4. Jack Rogers Hamptons Navajo Sandals - I've had these forever and they still go with everything! Not sold at Wander, but still proudly made in the USA!
  5. My Kindle {obviously} - loaded with The Girl on the Train, Eight Hundred Grapes, and The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing.
  6. This is Ground Cordito in Whiskey to keep chargers and cords tidy (maybe I don't need that last book after all...)
  7. Turkish Towel Beach Towel - if anyone knows a great American made source for lightweight beach towels, please clue me in!
